RENEGADE
Inertia Labs has once again partnered with Surveyor Corp to produce the Renegade mobility base for the SRV electronics package.
This new larger version of the open source SRV robot family is designed for outdoor use.
This base uses four high quality planetary gear motors with encoders to directly drive the five inch rock crawling wheels. The chassis is laser cut and bent .125" 6061 aircraft aluminum with an ABS impact plastic lid. Surveyor has designed a custom speed controller for this chassis that also takes the input from each motor encoder.
The Renegade can be configured with a GPS nav board, single stationary camera, or a tilt head for wither the single camera or stereo camera version. The Renegade can also take inputs from up to four infra red distance sensors.
The Renegade is a higher voltage, higher performace robot with either one or two LiPoly batteries.
You can also use this mobility base with a speed controller and Rx to make an RC robot of your own creation.

Complete Renegade SRV: The Renegade SRV is the latest in chassis design from Inertia Labs LLC coupled with the open source electronics from Surveyor Corp.

*Please note that Renegade Robots are build to order and may take up to four weeks to ship depending on your configuration.

The Renegade Wheels are custom machined from three pieces of bolted together machined billet aluminum, not flimsy plastic. The 5" tall tires are super compliant and made of grippy rubber with soft foam inserts. The wheels have a 14mm hex socket and are attached with a 1/4-20 end screw to the shaft adapter. The custom shaft adapters allow the 14mm hex to be mated to a 8mm "D" style shaft with the included set screw.

The Renegade Encoded Planetary Gear Motors were made in partnership with our motor supplier to provide just the right balance of power, speed, efficiency and duty cycle for this chassis. They are designed to be run at 12v. They have a 6 pin plug that also connects the encoder. Each motor comes with a 8" cord that plugs into the motor and the custom speed controller that accepts the encoded input (both connectors are the same and have .1" standard header spacing)
SRV Infra Red Distance Sensors

These 3v IR distance sensors mount directly above the new cameras shipping on the SRV electronics package (Picture). They take a continuous distance reading and return a corresponding analog voltage. The sensor package includes a JST 3-pin connector, three pre-crimped wires. SVS units with two cameras can carry two sensors.
We are carrying two ranges of this sensor (if you would like other ranges or would like to see all the versions, you can get them directly from Acroname). On the Renegade you have the option use one sensor per camera, and then two sensors to look down at the ground (one in front and one in back) to look for drop off hazards.
Renegade Smart Sensor and Speed Control

The Renegade Smart Sensor and Speed Controls were designed by Surveyor Corp to mate with the the SRV blackfin electronics and run a suite of sensors along with 4 encoded motors. The controller has separate 5A Infineon TLE5205-2G h-bridges for each motor, (and should be able to support doubled output by stacking additional h-bridge devices).
To integrate the encoder data with the PWM motor output, we have added an ARM7TDMI processor (NXP LPC2101) with UART and I2C host interfaces. Using the LPC2101 analog inputs, we have added a battery monitor circuit and headers for 4 Sharp IR ranging sensors. And finally, we have added 2 headers to interface to either 3.3V or 5.0V yaw gyro. Between the encoder and gyro feedback, a fairly complete dead-reckoning position solution is possible, freeing the host Blackfin processor for higher level navigation tasks. This also allows for navigation if you are not using the Navigation Board, or in areas where the Navigation board cannot get a clear reading such as indoors.
Board size is 1.5"x2.5" with 1"x2" centered mounting holes.

*Please note that Renegade Robots are build to order and may take up to four weeks to ship depending on your configuration.
Robofile scripts and the software on the RoboRealm CD can allow cool functionality out of the box, such as light following or chasing a red ball. You can use several pre-written scripts as examples of what can be done and as a starting point for your own projects.
Note that RoboRealm runs on your PC and communicates to the SRV over the 802.11 wireless protocol. This means that you will see what the SRV sees on your PC screen.
* Note that this price is only available when bundled with one of our SRV based robots.

SRV Signal Breakout Boards are expansion boards for the SRV that provide access to all of the signals on the SRV's S-32 expansion header. Extended header pins allow board stacking.
Ideal for adding sensors to the SRV-1 Blackfin Camera + Wifi or SRV-1 Blackfin Robot.
We use this board and add a 5v regulator to run external servos, connect the Nav Board, or wire out to external speed controllers. This diagram (PDF) shows wiring for these uses.
* Note that for SRVs made after October 09 with the two piece plastic front we have a special front piece that fits this. You can add this to your order here. For earlier ones you will need to modify your plastic front.

The SRV-1 RCM is an expansion board for the SRV Blackfin that supports 20 servos, 16 12-bit analog input channels, 16 GPIO signals, additional I2C and SPI expansion channels, and a micro-SD memory card slot. Voltage level converters provide support for 5V devices, and an external 5V supply can be added to drive large numbers of servos.
